Video: Mercedes-Benz investigates where your eyes wander

Chances are, if we were to ask you what catches a man's eye in the natural world, you wouldn't have to hire a team of researchers to come up with the answer. Of course, odds are that you don't work for Mercedes-Benz, either. The German automaker wanted to discover exactly what it is about its vehicles that snags someone's pupils, so it hired a team of scientists equipped with fancy camera-equipped glasses and unleashed a few unsuspecting test subjects on a quick walk-around the new CLS.

What'd they find? Not surprisingly, our eyes are immediately drawn to traits like the arching roof line, long hood and unique body contours down each flank. Surprise, surprise, we know. And what draws our eye in the opposite sex? Well, we'll just let you watch the video after the jump to figure that one out for yourself. Unlike the CLS, the answer may actually surprise you.

China UFO Sightings, Back-To-Back, Alarm Residents and shuts down Airport

What is it with China? Is it becoming a favourite spot for Aliens.

There has been atleast 4 to 5 UFO sightings reported in China in the last 6 months. This is creating a tension and fear among people in China. So what should China do..Shoot the UFO on sight or invite them to visit us. As usual the army and NASA are constantly denying the reports but are busy investigating the report. So the Question still remains "Are UFOs Real"

Check the pics of some of the latest UFO Sightings in China..

Asus NX90 Notebok Stolen Before Launch Event In Romania

Asus NX90 Notebok Stolen Before Launch Event In Romania

It's generally nice to know that the devices that you put on show are in demand, though sometimes that may not always be the case, as Asus probably found out over in Bucharest. Just a few days before the notebook was slated to be launched, the Asus NX90 Bang & Olufsen ICEpower notebook was apparently stolen from a five star hotel over in Bucharest. A security camera managed to snap a picture of the thieves getting away, but it would probably have been a better idea to prevent the theft by putting some kind of notebook lock around the device in the first place. Still, considering that the NX90 sports fancy features such as Bang & Olufsen speakers, a Blu-ray drive and USB 3.0, you have to admit the thieves have some good taste.

Video Of A $5 Million Swedish Bank Robbery

bank-robbery.jpg

This is a surveillance video that was just released from a Swedish bank robbery that went down back in September. The robbers landed a helicopter on the roof, broke into the Louvre-ass looking ceiling, and proceeded to escape with over $5 million (US) in Swedish Fish kronar. Krona krona bills ya'll.
Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on whether or not you view these guys as brilliant schemers or common criminals, 10 of them got caught and are going on trial next month. But now that the trial is about to begin, they've released the above footage of the crime itself.
Pfft, amateurs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the most important things to remember when robbing a bank IS NOT TO GET CAUGHT? Cause otherwise you're not so much a bank robber as you are prison penis fodder, are you? Hoho -- YO ASS GONNA GET STOLE!

Hit the jump for the crime in action.

Water surface functions as touchscreen interface

Who would have thought that something as ordinary as the surface of some water being used as more than a poor substitute for a mirror? Just take a look at this Water Touch Screen video and you'll know what we're talking about. It relies on a webcam as well as a cleverly written piece of software to turn the water's surface into an unorthodox way of playing out a touchscreen interface. It does so using some pixie dust and plenty of magic - we jest, the webcam will snap a photo of the surface of the water from the lower side, and only when the finger has invaded the water. Following that, a color tracking system on Max/MSP+Jitter finds coordinates where the finger appears while producing a cursor move and click in return. Any image distortion will be adjusted by affine transformation. Pretty neat, eh?

Drive Cell Safe: Hockey

ETH Zurich IDSC - The Distributed Flight Array

For those of you counting down to the robot uprising, you may be interested in the latest news from engineers at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. They’ve created autonomous robots that randomly dock with each other on the ground and then rise into the air– no human intervention required.
The little hexagonal modules that make up the flying drone are completely self-sufficient. In the context of a robot army, that means the airborne robot could be indestructible. Because the magnetically connected ‘bots easily break away from each other, they could blow apart under attack, and then reassemble themselves on the ground, good as new.
For now, Raymond Oung, one of the lead researchers, envisions the self-controlled ‘bots more as a teaching tool for describing control systems than a tool of war. Once the modules meet up on the ground, the way they propel themselves into the air and stay there is is a dynamic demonstration of how a servo system works.
Communicating via infrared sensors – like the kind in your TV remote – the ‘bots quickly adapt to the changing conditions of flight. Each module has its own attitude sensor, and broadcasts its location to others in the collective. That way, if the aircraft starts tilting towards the right, the modules on the right side generate more thrust to compensate.
Add a dash of autonomous walking robots to these shape-shifting flyers, and you’ve almost got an airborne T-1000.
Okay, okay, they’re not quite there yet. So far, the Swiss robotics team has only flown four of the self-assembling ‘bots as one. But Raymond Oung, one of the lead researchers, says there’s virtually “no upper limit on the number of modules” you could fly. By the end of the summer, they hope to demonstrate a swarm of twelve.
After that, who knows. It’s only a matter of time…

Dell talked about Alienware gaming computers at DCC

Alienware's 11-Inch M11x Netbook Getting Core i7 Upgrade Next Month:

Courtesy of a Dell representative who let a little too much information loose in a video interview with Shufflegazine, we now know that its gaming arm Alienware is readying an Intel Core i7 netbook next month.

Along with the i7 chip, i3 and i5 processors will also be on offer for the "netbook," which will be an updated M11x (first unveiled at CES this year), measuring 11-inches.

Dell's Head of Consumer Operations for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, Pearce Clune, called it a "must-have," on the video, which starts at around 2.20 minutes for the M11x information. The M11x got our very own Mark Wilson all fired up at CES during his hands-on playtime, but he did admit that the weight was unexpected, at 4.39 lbs. Google TV Unveiled. It’s All About The Ad Reach

Today at Google I/O, the company made the announcement that everyone was waiting for — Google TV. While some glitches in the demo (with the Bluetooth keyboard) prevented it from being a “wow” moment, the implications are pretty clear what Google is going for. That is, the 4 billion TV users worldwide. Or rather, advertising to the 4 billion TV users worldwide.
Google noted that while computer usage is huge with 1 billion users, and mobile is even bigger with 2 billion users, TV is the real massive medium with 4 billion users around the world. Further, Google notes that people spend 5 hours a day on average in the U.S. watching TV — and that’s more than ever before. Then the real stat came out. 70 billion dollars. that’s the annual ad spend on television in U.S. alone.
